Crossroads
The collaboration between Powers Goolsby and Crossroads highlights the Church’s need for a new multipurpose recreation and ministry building, both on and off campus. This new facility will feature a gymnasium, classrooms, ministerial offices, and a kitchen and lounge area.
The versatile gymnasium is designed to support the church’s recreation ministry as well as local community sports leagues. It includes a four-lane walking track that surrounds the basketball and volleyball courts. Beyond its recreational uses, this space also serves as a crucial refuge and relief center during disasters. This capability is especially significant for Crossroads, given their limited space during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The new facility will now ensure they are well-prepared to offer aid in future emergencies. Furthermore, when not used for recreation or disaster relief, the gymnasium can be transformed into additional worship space for the congregation or a meeting venue for the wider community.
The spacious classrooms will function as educational areas and breakout rooms for fellowship and study. The fully equipped, full-size kitchen will be able to accommodate a wide range of activities. Connecting the main entry to the gymnasium and classrooms, the lounge provides a comfortable central gathering point within the building. Notably, the lounge offers a view of a 100+ year old Heritage Tree, which was carefully preserved during construction. Just past the Heritage Tree, a playground will allow parents to supervise their children while enjoying coffee and fellowship.
