New Facilities for:

Crossroads

Collaborating with Powers Goolsby, Crossroads community involvement on and
off campus created the need for a new multipurpose recreation and ministry building.
The new facility offers amenities including a gymnasium, classrooms, ministerial offices,
a kitchen and lounge.
The multipurpose gymnasium serves both the church’s recreation ministry and
some community sports leagues. It boasts a four lane walking track around the
basketball court and volleyball court. While the main purpose of this space is a gym,
the church also uses this space as a refuge and relief center during disasters- an
important mission undertaken by Crossroads as they were unable to offer adequate
space during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Now they are sufficiently equipped to provide
aid in future emergencies. When not being used for recreation or as a refuge, the space
transforms into additional worship space for the congregation or a meeting space for the
community.
Large classrooms serve as education and break out spaces for fellowship and
study. The full size kitchen is well equipped to host a variety of activities. The lounge
connects the main entry to the gym and classrooms serving as a comfortable central
node for the building. Out the windows of the lounge is a 100+ year old Heritage Tree
that was critical to maintain during construction. A playground lies just beyond the
Heritage Tree, allowing parents to keep an eye on their own heritage as they enjoy a
cup of coffee and fellowship.
